Background information

Ed. Note: This producer no longer makes wine. His last vintage was 2001. The vineyards were transferred to Domaine Colin-Deleger. The Chevalier Montrachet vines owned by Georges Deleger (older than those originally owned by Colin-Deleger) were transferred to Colin-Deleger, who retained them for use as the Colin-Deleger estate wine. The somewhat younger Chevalier vines owned by Colin-Deleger were transferred to Colin's two sons, Bruno and Phillipe.
  • In vintage 1996: no information about batonnage.

  • Chevalier-Montrachet (Sep. 2008-Feb 2009): 6 additional bottles recently purchased at Acker auction--none oxidized, but every bottle more advanced than all others I've had. Three with deep mature gold color, very mature obviously advanced flavors. Two bottles were better but not at prior standards. One very good bottle, but still below prior bottles from Europe. I suspect poor storage by the prior owner. [Don Cornwell]
